The Dog Who Went Bald from Demodectic Mange

Dog Who Went Bald from Demodectic Mange

This baby came from Fort Worth Animal Care and Control and has demodectic mange so bad he’s almost completely bald! Demodectic mange is caused by a cigar-shaped mite called Demodex canis. These mites are typically a normal and harmless part of the skin flora of dogs. However, if a dog has a weakened immune system, the mites can grow out of control and cause loss of hair, redness, scaly skin, infection, swelling, and crusts. Luckily, even severe cases of mange are treatable! We are giving this sweet dog the necessary treatment to restore his hair and get him ready for his new forever home!

You can donate here to help support his recovery.
