Rescue Dog with Bilateral Cherry Eye
This baby was dumped outside of Cleburne with bilateral cherry eye. Cherry eye is a term for the prolapse of the third eyelid gland. This third eyelid is located inside the lower eyelid and serves as a protective layer for the eye. It contains a special gland that produces up to 50% of the eye’s protective tear film. When the gland pops out or prolapses, it causes cherry eye. This decreases tear production, which can result in dry eyes and impair vision. We have had her eyes repaired and she is already on the road to recovery in her new loving home!
